HR Intern

Department: Human Resources
Location: Southfield, MI

The Opportunity

Prizelogic partners with leading Fortune 100 brands across all major categories to plan, create, develop and launch the biggest promotions on earth.

As a dynamic company of 150+ employees with, PrizeLogic is looking to provide a strategy-minded intern the opportunity to flex critical thinking and problem solving skills to help meet Prizelogic’s HR needs at the strategic level. Intern will have the opportunity to interact with all levels of the organization while gaining unique experience defining company-wide procedures. Projects and responsibilities include recruiting, training and development management, and defining company policy and procedures.

Intern can expect consistent communication with his/her supervisors, inclusion on company-wide strategic meetings, and opportunities to support unique HR projects. PrizeLogic offers a highly flexible work schedule and the opportunity to work remotely.

Position Responsibilities

Recruiting:

  • Arrange for advertising or posting of job vacancies and notify eligible workers of position availability.
  • Process and review employment applications to evaluate qualifications or eligibility of applicants.
  • Interview job applicants to obtain and verify information used to screen and evaluate them.
  • Inform job applicants of their acceptance or rejection of employment.

Training and Development:

  • Incentivize employees to put on and attend training sessions,
  • Maintain communication regarding available training sessions
  • Maintain accuracy of training calendar,
  • Prepare conference rooms for training sessions.

Revise Company Policy, Procedures, and Content:

  • Aid in revising the Employee Handbook to address current topics
  • Research employment law-related questions to aid in policy-writing process
  • Aid in restructuring company salary and bonus review plans to accurately and consistently reward for performance
  • Write appropriate website content to re-brand PrizeLogic from a promotions agency to a Consumer Data Platform
  • Create a “Welcome to PrizeLogic” video for new-hire onboarding
  • Act as a point of contact for revising structure and content of competency-based performance review

 

Work Activities

  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work — Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships — Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
  • Processing Information — compiling, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.

 

Knowledge

Successful candidates will possess prior knowledge in the following areas:

  • Personnel and Human Resources — Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and personnel information systems.
  • Clerical — Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

 

Skills

Successful candidates will be able to show the following skills:

  • Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Writing — Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

 

Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position offering high flexibility through working from home. At least two days per week must be spent in the office location.

Preferred Education and Experience

A Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree, preferred major in any of the following fields of study: Communication, HRD, HRM.
